HSF Startup Team: 1st meeting

Date:
Wed, 2014-10-08

As decided by the HSF's Interim Foundation Board a week earlier, the HSF Startup Team is charged with starting up the foundation under the ongoing oversight of the IFB. This was the first weekly startup team meeting, chaired and minuted by Torre Wenaus. Every fourth meeting will be open to all, i.e. will be an IFB meeting (the IFB being the open self-declared group interested in participating in the HSF).

HSF - iFB: 4th meeting

Date:
Wed, 2014-10-01

A fourth discussion of the HEP Software Foundation's Interim Foundation Board, chaired by John Harvey and minuted by Ian Bird.

Following the proposal at the last meeting, Torre Wenaus (BNL) and Pere Mato (CERN) have agreed to lead the initial efforts to set up the software foundation. Torre on behalf of Pere and himself presented first suggestions of how to proceed with starting up the HSF. It was agreed that Torre and Pere would proceed with a startup plan along the lines presented, with a first meeting of the startup team the next week.

HSF - iFB: 3rd discussion

Date:
Wed, 2014-09-17

A third discussion of the HEP Software Foundation's Interim Foundation Board, chaired by John Harvey and minuted by Ian Bird. The discussion had two main topics, a leadership team to get the HSF started, and the next workshop. There were two actions:

  • Conclude on the nominations for the leadership team and the 2nd workshop at the next meeting. Feedback is needed from the community – either privately or via the mailing list.
  • Next meeting should perhaps also define the scope of the workshop, and avoid it being a repeat of the first.

HSF - iFB: 2nd discussion

Date:
Wed, 2014-09-03

A second discussion of the HEP Software Foundation's Interim Foundation Board, chaired and minuted by John Harvey. The discussion had two main conclusions:

1. to write down a mandate for the initial phase of building the HSF
2. as soon as possible, to identify people who can lead the initial phase of building a collaborative software foundation.

HSF - iFB: first discussion

Date:
Wed, 2014-07-16

HEP Software Foundation - Interim Foundation Board

An Interim Foundation Board for the HSF was constituted as the membership of the open e-group hep-sf-ifb@cern.ch. This meeting was the first discussion of this group on getting the HSF going. Chaired and minuted by John Harvey.

HEP Software Foundation Workshop, SLAC, Jan 20-21 2015

Date:
Tue, 2015-01-20 to Wed, 2015-01-21

The HSF had a workshop at SLAC's Kavli Auditorium in January 2015, Tue 20 - Wed 21, with discussions continuing on Thu 22. The main goal of the workshop was to refine the next steps for building the HSF. The workshop was successful in this, with about 100 participants (80 local and 20 remote) contributing to establishing a concrete set of community mandated activities for the HSF.

XRootD Workshop, UCSD, Jan 2015
