NIPS 2014 Workshop on High-energy physics and machine learning

Sat, 2014-12-13

You probably have heard about the HiggsML challenge where machine learning scientists and physicists have competed during the summer till last week to get the best expected significance from a simplified ntuple built from ATLAS simulated events for the Higgs to tau tau analysis. This has been a huge success with close to 1800 teams participating. A workshop is now organised as a satellite of the NIPS conference (NIPS is a major machine learning  conference (~1500 participants), a bit like ICHEP for HEP).
